Justified confidence or naivety?
Talk with Dr Alexander Fink, Physicist
New University // Grabengasse 3 // 69117 Heidelberg // 7:30 pm
Many people believe that science has disproved the existence of God. But then why are there Nobel laureates who believe in God? A closer look reveals that the conflict does not lie between faith and science, but between underlying philosophical assumptions. And if one tests these assumptions against the current findings of science, one may well come to the conclusion that science actually provides good reasons to believe in God!
Reason for genuine confidence?
Talk with PD Dr. Matthias Deuschle, Theologian
New University // Grabengasse 3 // 69117 Heidelberg // 7:30 pm
If confidence is to sustain us in difficult times, it must be more than positive thinking. Christian confidence rests on the resurrection of Jesus Christ. But does this event stand up to historical scrutiny? Anyone seeking true confidence cannot avoid engaging with Jesus and the resurrection.
Does faith bring fulfilling confidence?
Talk with Julia Garschagen, Theologian
New University // Grabengasse 3 // 69117 Heidelberg // 7:30 pm
Happiness, flow, golden moments—we strive for euphoria and a fulfilling life. And we do so much for it that some people get stressed out trying to be happy. On Instagram, everyone else always looks happier...
What are we really looking for? And how does one become happy?
Q&A followed by a World Cup public viewing
Hosanna Church // Vangerowstraße 5 // 69115 Heidelberg // 7:30 pm
The best answer is worthless if it stands on shaky ground. This evening, there is time for your questions. What interests you about the Christian faith? What confuses, bothers, ... angers you? If Christian confidence is to hold up even today, it must be able to connect with the modern world!
After the questions, the World Cup kicks off on June 11th. Feel free to stay for the public viewing of the opening match between Mexico and South Africa.
Festive Week's End with Orchestra
Peterskirche // Plöck 70 // 69117 Heidelberg // 7:30 pm
After a week of engaging with the demands and scope of Christian confidence, we want to live out confidence together on the final evening through various musical and spoken contributions. After all, Christian confidence flourishes in community! Even if you've only ever seen a church from the outside, you are most welcome here!
All talks at 19:30 at the Neue Uni
Come just as you are.
